About Me

Welcome to my blog! I’ve been teaching for 8 years, and I am so happy to be able to share my journey with you! My goal is to inspire new, young teachers while reflecting on my own teaching. I’ve taught many grades in many schools! My first two years I taught second grade outside of Detroit, I then changed districts to a small district in Dundee, Michigan where I taught 5th grade ELA for a year, first grade for a year,  and 6th grade science and social studies for a year! Then I moved again to a new district where my now husband worked as a principal. Now I teach 8th grade math! I think my experiences in different grade levels shows me how grades build off each other and working in multiple districts helped me gain perspectives around expectations and cultural differences. I absolutely LOVE teaching! It has been my dream job since I was inspired by my teachers in elementary school, and I am living the dream! I currently have my Masters in Educational Technology, as well, and I am working toward my National Board Certification.

Outside of work, I play soccer, do yoga, and relax with my husband and dog Stark. I love to be outdoors and kayak, snowboard, and hike! Up north vacations are my all-time favorite. Some of my favorite places to camp are along the beaches of Lake Michigan and in the Upper Peninsula.
